The original owners stood out of the crowd in their blue dress with red caps. Just queuing up to present to Alan Mulally their present and to make him a member of their group with a special gift.

Harrel McKinney enjoys his car since 45 years

Born in 1940 Harrel was just 24 and had just graduated from the Troy university 2 years earlier, when he was in need of a new car. Being married and having already a 2 1/2 year old daughter, his first thought was a family car and they almost bought a Rambler Ambassador, but he remembered his Ford dealer just in time, where his brothers had bought cars and test-drive a Fairlane 500.
Harrel wasn't too much impressed and about to leave, but in the last minute was shown a stack of new Mustang brochures that had just arrived. Harrel thought a few moments about it and bought one instantly out of the brochure.
His choice fell on this white Hardtop with a 260cui engine and a Palomino interior. Built on May 14th, 1964 and delivered on May 21st, 1964 to his dealer. The sticker price was 2677$, but Harrell got a special deal due to his brothers relation and paid just 2441$. Harrell enjoyed the car for over 25 years, until he spent his car a restoration in 1989.

Since then he is driving it occasionally and showing it on special occasions. This time it was certainly one of them. As 1 of 9 original owners Harrell McKinney was invited to the 45th and the group presented their cars just in front of the Barber Motorsports museum.

A special Original owners group memorabilia was given to Alan Mulally (CEO) of Ford, maybe to remind him of the exceptional dedication of Mustang owners. Alan Mulally was quick to point out that there will be forever a Mustang in the Ford future. He repeated that promise at the Ford Banquett in the evening.

Harrell still has all the original paperwork including the manual and this invoice to Arnold and Myers Ford in Hartford/AL.
