Doug Duckwiler
1967 BULLITT Tribute

California
sun shines on Doug Duckwilers "Tribute" project
I'm a great
fan of the movie "Bullitt", I saw it in Hollywood on my 16th
Birthday when it first came out. At the time I managed to convince my Dad to
buy a '67 GT350, Moss Green. He sold it later as he kept getting "exposition
driving" tickets. I bought this "68 Fastback four years ago and it
took three years to complete (mostly weekends).
I had the original 289
Automatic converted to a 5.0 Liter engine (with Holley carb) and 5 speed
transmission out of an '89 police interceptor. I converted the front
brakes to disc and added gas shocks, power assist steering, electronic fuel
pump, and Flowmaster exhaust system. The paint is Highland Green. The
interior was completely redone.
I got to meet Mr. McQueen at the Phoenix 500 in 1970 and he won the
race that day. His wife Neile, children - Terry and Chad and his buddy James
Garner - jumped all over him at the winner's circle.
Thanks for letting me honor the memory of my Dad and Steve McQueen.
