"Hello! This is my '68 Mustang Fastback
"Bullitt replica." Bought in 2000 and totally restored from the
frame rails up, it was completed in October 2005, just in time for my
birthday! This car originally had a 302 with an automatic transmission. It
now has a 351 Windsor crate motor with a 355 posi rear end and a five
speed transmission. My husband built this car so that we could tour! If
you look carefully at the rear end of the car, my husband replaced the
M-U-S-T-A-N-G letters with the B-U-L-L-I-T-T letters from the 2001 and
also a custom gas cap from a rare Honda RC30 racing motorcycle that
he used to own. It gives it a very nice touch.
The car came in the correct original color, Highland Green (when my husband found the car, he called me and said, "you won't believe what I just found!! A green 68 Mustang Fastback!!") The day after we completed putting the entire car together, we took it to its first show and took a second place trophy!! In May, 2006, it won a Top 40 trophy at Beach Blast, a car show limited to 200 cars in Cocoa Beach, Florida. My husband also owns a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T (bright red) and someday would we would like to find a 68 Charger R/T so that we could paint it black and go to shows! I am a Mustang fanatic as I own my grandmother's 1967 Mustang coupe and a 2004 Mach 1 (competition orange). Someday, I would love to take my car out to San Francisco just so we could run through the same streets as Steve McQueen."
