4th ANNUAL PHIL CLARK STAMPEDE 2008 July
5th saw the Phil Clark Stampede in Hillsboro Texas.
2WOW..this year was AWESOME! 2
Even with high gas prices people came from everywhere to honor the Man/The Car/The Pony... Phil Clark.
It was a VERY VERY VERY HOT day, but Hillsboro
City and Chamber pulled through (thanks to Robert, the Mayor, Natalie,
Jason, and many others!)...we had all kinds of TOURS!
The music museum...where oddly enough a German group had just come into town to view - the Car museums..Cadillac and Mr. Estes --the historic vourthouse..the Most Historic Courthouse in Texas..and all the little small town resturants and shops that make the square so unique!
Hillsboro provided trophies and dash Plaques and
T-Shirts to the PHIL CLARK FOUNDATION! It was a WONDERFUL WONDERFUL YEAR!
Of course there was the Silent Auction. Many
items were auctioned off, but the big one was the signed Carroll Shelby
Car... There was a fight to the end! The winner winning the car at just over
$250.00!
All the money raised will be going to charity
that Phil Clark would have wanted to support. Most will go to a Division of
the National Kidney Disease Center's Research!
I have had lots of stuff happen since the
Stampede delaying me in getting this out; not the least in which my modem
got struck by lightning, I am trying to purchase or repair computers, the
printer went out, and the second printer went out, we finally moved into our
home and I am unpacking, we had to have a garage sale, as our home is not
large enough for our car stuff we collect, and my 15 year old dog has been
ill.
The big event however is that our neighbor wrecked in our front yard...and we have had a constant memorial as family and friends have been coming over..and I want to take this time to honor my neighbor and Mustang Friend/Chris Gurley, as he has touched our lives. My prayers go out to the family and especially his 9 month old son... I know what it's like to lose a father, and I am so grieved by this situation.
But I didn't want to go any longer without
thanking the people that made this possible. The ones closest to me were
Devon Widner, Natalie Meeks, Jason Meeks, Russ Kintz, George Herring (and
Family)--THE OLD CORNER GULF, The Hillsboro Area Chamber Members/officers/Director
and the State and City Members Officers and others.
Thank you to David Clark for calling
Sponsors...and to Wolfgang and MCA, and NTMC for keeping everyone informed!
And thanks to Red Van for sponsoring...well
Me... :) With his time and mola!
Colleen Kintz and friends came and jumped in
there helping us with the daily grind of the show...and Sara Barnes brought
us ready made bags!

communications to Wolfgang and made AWESOME photos for the day of the Show!
