The History of #78 Gary Mathews Boss 302 Built in 1970 by Gary Mathews. Mathews raced this Boss 302 with FORD sponsorship in the TRANS AM championship for many years. He also won the “A” sedan national championship, set class records at Riverside and Willow Springs and became "Driver of the Year". Mathews owned the car until 1987.
